About the Festival

The Play and Creativity Festival is an opportunity to showcase the ways play and creativity permeate our teaching, research and professional activities. Whether physical, game-based, imaginative, communal, noisy, quiet or solitary, play makes an important contribution to University life. This festival is a jam packed programme of playful events involving everything from LEGO, balloons and maggot racing to gamified learning and playful food. Feel free to go to all, or any, of the open sessions throughout the week (there is no need to sign up)  for teaching inspiration and to have some fun in the final week of the semester. Have a look at the feedback on the 2019 festival to see what participants  and contributors thought or watch the video below for a flavour of the festival.

See what what the Chancellor Alan Tichmarsh thinks about play, when we interviewed him for the Play and Creativity Festival in the video below.

After the success of last year’s Play and Creativity Festival play tent, we will be hosting events in here again. The play tent will be located on the Dytche where there will be various activities running throughout the day. If you would like to host a session or bring your class down to the tent to use the space and resources, please email play@winchester.ac.uk

Celebrate the week of fun and games at the Play and Creativity Festival finale in the play tent on Friday 5th!
Come along to the Play and Creativity Festival Finale in The Play Tent. Explore an interactive gallery of  exhibits co-created over the Festival week.  A collaboration of Students, Staff and Friends inspired to be playful, creative and imaginative. We will also be building The University of The Future in the finale, alongside eating some cake, drinking some tea and enjoying some beautiful live music from our university student music groups!
